TEACHER BIO

Ty Graynor is a dance artist, choreographer, educator, and creative producer based in Austin, Texas. Originally from Huntington, New York, he holds a BFA in Dance Performance from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford, where he trained under Nina Watt, Miki Orihara, Stephen Pier, and Doug Varone. His early career featured performances of iconic works by Martha Graham, José Limón, and Doris Humphrey. Ty continued his training at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and joined Graham 2, where he performed lead roles in Appalachian Spring, Acts of Light, Secular Games, and Diversion of Angels. In 2019, he became a company dancer and teaching artist with the Limón Dance Company, performing seminal works such as The Unsung, Mazurkas, Psalm, and There Is a Time, while contributing to new creations by emerging and established choreographers. Over his career, Ty has had the privilege of working with a diverse range of notable artists, including Manuel Vignoulle, Bryan Arias, Adam Barruch, Olivier Tarpaga, Chafin Seymour, Raúl Tamez, Robin Becker, Christina Lynch Markham, Brice Mousset, and others. Now the Artistic Director of TY&CO, Ty creates immersive works that explore the human condition through movement, blending classical modern techniques with experimental contemporary forms. He specializes in teaching the Limón technique and contemporary dance. As a performer, Ty continues to collaborate with Peter Stathas Dance and Red Nightfall Dance Theatre. Ty’s mission is to make dance accessible to those unfamiliar with the art form, providing training and outreach to both pre-professional and professional artists who lack industry support. Through residencies, touring work, and local engagement, TY&CO serves as a lighthouse—illuminating paths toward presence, story, and shared humanity.
